Thousands of tourists and residents have been evacuated from island resorts on Australia's Great Barrier Reef ahead of powerful tropical cyclone.
Australia's weather bureau had earlier warned that Tropical Cyclone Hamish could cause substantial damage and flooding, with the storm at its height packing winds of up to 295 kph (177 mph).

Namibia - Land of Beauty
Namibia, officially the Republic of Namibia, is a country in southern Africa on the Atlantic coast. It shares borders with Angola and Zambia to the north, Botswana to the east, and South Africa to the south. It gained independence from South Africa in 1990 and its capital city is Windhoek (German: Windhuk). Namibia is a member state of the United Nations (UN), the Southern African Development Community (SADC), the African Union (AU), and the Commonwealth of Nations. It is named after the Namib Desert and is the second most sparsely populated country in the world (after Mongolia).
Once a colony of Germany and later occupied by South Africa's apartheid government, Namibia gained full independence in 1990 following South Africa's withdrawal from Angola. Namibia is one of Africa's most developed and stable countries, with a stable multiparty parliamentary democracy and an estimated population of 1,820,916. Tourism and diamond mining form the backbone of Namibia's economy.

Google helping tourists around New York City
New York City, along with Google, launched a new website that is designed to help tourists and residents find their way around the city, and plan their days out. As a recent first-time visitor to the Big Apple, a site like this would have actually been quite useful.
Mayor Bloomberg says he hopes that “nycgo.com becomes the official online resource for tourists and residents looking for an activity or a place to go”. The site appears to have lots of information, and can definitely direct people in the right direction.
There seems to be a market for specific localized information sites like this one, and it makes sense for companies like Google to try and be a piece of them.

Obama in Nairobi!!!!
Nairobi people like Obama. They say “This is a new era,” - a happy day for Kenyans, for Africans, a day to celebrate.”
By the time the vice-presidential inauguration had come and gone, the club was beginning to hush. Soon everyone was sitting at red-white-and-blue-draped tables in the garden in front of huge flat-screen TV’s. Obama stepped forward, and Casablanca was so quiet I could hear the singing of the cicadas and tree frogs. The moment hung in the thick night air, and when the new president gave a shout out to Kogelo, the village where he traces his roots, the crowd burst into a cheer.
Young Nairobians celebrate the inauguration.
They Are singing for Obama............
Revelers at Casablanca cheer Obama’s speech.
Then Nairobi began to party in earnest. The garden started thumping to the dance music of Afro-Project, Nairobi’s hottest new act. And Ciiru finally took to the stage for her Beyoncé moment, singing rich, resonant African soul.
It party time - D.J. Riggs at Gallileo.
From there it was on to Gallileo (Museum Hill, +254 20 374 6718), which was full of locals waving Kenyan flags inscribed with “Obama.” D.J. Riggs played L.A. hip-hop, and young couples grooved to the image of the president and first lady dancing together at the Neighborhood Ball.
Every where Obama.......Obama..........
As the night stretched into the morning, we all ended up in a field full of students smiling and shouting. One group was brandishing an American flag and cheering, “Obama! Obama! Obama!” Two girls rushed up to me, the only white face in the crowd. “Where you from?” they asked. “America? Welcome to Kenya!” They laughed and kissed me on the cheek. “Tell your friends to come and see our country!”

Travel Mathur Hanging Bridge (7 Wonders of India)
The Mathur Hanging Trough is the tallest as well as the longest trough bridge in Asia, having a height of 115 feet and a length of one kilometre. Constructed in 1966, this bridge has become a place of tourist importance and hundreds of tourists visit this place. This is situated in Mathur, hamlet of Aruvikkarai revenue village in Thiruvattar Panchayat Union.
The bridge has been constructed at Mathur across the river Parazhiyar at a cost of Rs. 12.90/- lakhs and the trough canal (Pattanamkal canal) on the bridge carries water for irrigation from one side of a hill to the other side of a hill. The trough has a height of seven feet with a width of seven feet six inches.
The canal is being shouldered by 28 huge pillars. By the unrelented efforts of late Thiru. K. Kamaraj, the former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, this canal was constructed as a drought relief measure and for the development of agriculture in Vilavancode and Kalkulam Taluks. The District Administration has recently put up a staircase from top to the bottom of the bridge and also built a children's park and bathing platforms over here.
